When I got home from Mera, I walked around the house looking in the windows to find Willem, told him I'd be by the pond, then drove down there with four birdhouses ( Read more... )

It is a beautiful day today. We went out for a walk as soon as we were up. I snowshoed from the road down the pond lane. Willem came along behind, walking on top of the snow until we got onto the clothwalk, buried under over a foot of snow. I know how deep it is cos it came up over Willem's knees as he walked. The sun was very low in the sky at 2pm, already most of Canary Meadow was in the shade. It was still sunny on the laneway beside the pond, though.

I went first to Jopi Tipi and looked at the pond from the snow-free frozen shelter. The pond ice was a little bit bumpy. I walked out on the dock. I know it will hold my weight all year, but that it ( Read more... )

Having shoveled out the pathway to the cars and some of the dike, we conferred with our neighbour about the snow removal for the year. He's going to plow our driveway and the dike into the pond lane for us whenever it snows. Wonderful! NOw I won't have to worry about Willem having a heart attack or something ( Read more... )

The dips in the path beyond the mouth of the pond were so predictable. I knew where they were, how deep they'd be, what would come next. I stood and gazed across Canary Meadow to Horseshoe Island Tipi at Serenity Dippity Pond. A pathway through the yellow dried grass linked these two ponds. I went for a walk, filming all the way with three cameras on the go. All three of the ponds are frozen. I saw a huge frog come out from under the short dock when I stepped on it and heard the ice crack softly ( Read more... )

We have been working on the path between the three ponds (three = tri in Latin, ponds or water = aqua in latin) Triaqua is the name of it, now. not trinity or triangle, but tri-aqua trail. Sign to follow ( Read more... )
